First 100 workers in “Leoni” factory is beginning to work in October

The new cable factory for automobile industry, based in Prokuplje, owned by the German “Leoni”, will start with work in October, with the first new employed 100 workers, according to the words of the factory’s General Manager, Petar Prohaska.

The German “Leoni” factory has sent about a 100 future workers to a one-month training in the Slovakian city, Ilavi.

- We’ve signed contracts with all workers, and after they would finish with training, they would start in the factory in October, said Prohaska.

From several hundreds applications, after undertaking tests, the factory has chosen most qualified workers and the ones who showed best results.

At the moment, the property of once “Fiaz” factory is being decontaminated and cleaned, for the opening of the new “Leoni” company’s plants.

“Fiaz” factory used asbestos in production of brake covers, which created this pollution, and the Ministry for living environment of Serbia has provided 30 million RSD for cleaning of the factory’s area.

Representatives of the Government of Serbia and “Leoni” company signed in April, Agreement of Understanding, which obliged the German company to upgrade and rehabilitate the production in “Fiaza” factory, in the next 3 years. “Leoni” bought the factory for 58 million RSD, and it has to invest another 15 million euros and to hire around 2.000 workers.
