The Ministry of Infrastructure of Serbia and the Ministry of Transportation and Communications of Macedonia signed the Declaration on joint realization of projects in all kinds of transportation today (September 10th, 2009) in Belgrade.

The Minister of Infrastructure of Serbia, Milutun Mrkonjić, said to the press that the priority of the two countries was the construction of railway "Corridor 10", which should have a two-gage railway and enable maximum speed of trains of 160 km per hour.

The Minister of Transportation and Communications of Macedonia, Mile Janakieski, said that that agreement anticipated cooperation in field of road, rail and air transportation.

- Today we agreed in principle on liberalization of road transportation for trucks with Euro-certificates - Janakieski pointed out.

He said that Macedonia would revoke road taxes for Serbian trucks entering Macedonia in September, and added that Serbian Government had been asked to do the same and revoke the taxes for trucks that were coming from Macedonia.

- The agreement on control of railway transportation enables liberalization of transportation of passengers and goods, which means that the customs procedures and queues on border crossings will be reduced - Janakieski pointed out.

Macedonian Minister said that they had also agreed to sign the agreement on air transportation, and he pointed out that "the representatives of Macedonian air transportation company clearly said that the sky above Macedonia was free".

On that occasion, Minister Mrkonjić will visit Macedonia on October 11th when the agreement on road and rail transportation should be signed.
