"Jat" to stay without Flying Academy - first step towards privatization of school in Vršac
Flying Academy from Vršac, which has been attended by few thousand domestic and foreign pilots over the last 35 years, should be separated from "Jat Airways" by the end of the year. In that way, according to the idea of the management of the national airliner, one of the three largest European pilot training centers will get its own account and the right to make decisions by itself, but it will still remain in the possession of the state.
However, well-informed people are of the opinion that this represents the first step towards privatization of the Flying Academy, as well as that this institution may become a stockholding company following its separation from "Jat Airways". But, in order for that to happen, the Government of Serbia must first approve of the plan suggested by the management of "Jat".
By the way, the Flying Academy earns "Jat Airways" a significant profit since the education of one pilot costs between 30,000 and 40,000 EUR at average, and few tens of students from Lybia, Netherlands, Iraq, Poland and other countries are expected to complete the training in Vršac by the end of the year.
The Academy owns total of 21 airplanes, including 15 "cesna 172C", two "cesna 157 aerobat", two "cesna 310T", and two "piper chayenne PA-31T" airplanes.
