Constituency of Switzerland in Serbia for the first time - meeting of representatives of group of countries within IMF and World Bank
- The meeting of the countries members of the Constituency of Switzerland, including Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Serbia, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, was held in Belgrade on Friday (October 2nd, 2009) - the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) announced.
That is the group of countries within the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, through which the members realize their rights and interests in the work of these institutions.
The hosts of this year's meeting, which was organized in Serbia for the first time, were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development of Serbia, Mlađan Dinkić, who represents Serbia in the World Bank, and the Governor of NBS, Radovan Jelašić, as the representative of Serbia in IMF.
The meeting of the Constituency, which was presided by the Minister of Finance, Hans-Rudolf Merz, was attended by the governors of central banks and ministers of finance who are governors and deputy governors of the countries members of the Constituency in IMF and the World Bank, Swiss executive directors in IMF and World Bank, as well as their deputies and associates.
They agreed on joint appearance when it comes to issues related to global economic trends, reform and strategy of IMF and the World Bank, which will be taken in consideration at the forthcoming Annual Assembly of the Board of Governors of these institutions in Istanbul, between October 4 and 7, 2009.
According to the announcement, the meeting was also the occasion for discussion about relevant issue of interest to all members of the Constituency and holding of the seminar on the effects of the global financial crisis.
