"Magneti Marelli" to buy "Zastava Trucks"?
Company "Magneti Marelli" may soon become the new owner of "Zastava Trucks" although it was announced earlier that "Iveco" would buy that factory.
The Deputy Mayor of Kragujevac, Nebojša Zdravković, claims that the negotiations on takeover of "Zastava Trucks" by company "Magneti Marelli" are in the final phase. On the other hand, Italian
"Iveco" is very close to making decision on having a bus factory built in duty-free zone Korman Field near Kragujevac.
The Deputy Mayor of Kragujevac, Nebojša Zdravković, claims that some concrete information should be announced soon.
The CEO of "Zastava Trucks", Đorđe Nestorović, points out that, on the occasion of the last visit of the delegation of the Kragujevac-based factory to "Iveco", the management of the Italian company announced that further negotiations on takeover would be conducted with the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development of Serbia.
Even the trade union leaders heard that "Magneti Marelli" was thinking about taking over the factory, but they believe nothing until the agreement is specified by the contract.
The experts estimate that the official information on the arrival of "Iveco" and "Magneti Marelli" in Kragujevac may be announced after the visit of President Boris Tadić and Minister Mlađan Dinkić to "Fiat" in mid-November.
