The reconstruction of the Sava Square in Belgrade will be realized in four phases, and the area will remain open for traffic throughout the reconstruction, the head urban planner of Belgrade, Marko Stojcic, announced on TV Prva, Beoinfo reports.

– The first phase of the works will entail the construction of a plaza in front of the station, the second phase is the construction of a pumping station, and the third phase will entail the building of a full tram system and driving lanes. The area will remain open for traffic and the first thing to be built will be the ring road surrounding the square. Once this is done and the trams are put back into operation, we will start reconstructing the semi-circle of the Sava Square. The fourth phase entails the raising of the monument to Stefan Nemanja, the position of which has been carefully chosen and which will be located at the current intersection of the tram tracks – Stojcic said, Beoinfo reports.
