Serbian-Ukrainian Business Council formed
The chambers of commerce of Serbia and Ukraine signed the agreement today (October 6, 2009) on formation of Serbian-Ukrainian Business Council, which should be engaged in removal of obstacles in the operations between the two countries.
The Agreement was signed by the Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, Mihailo Vesović, and the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Šumska region in Ukraine, Konstantin Makarenko, at the meeting of the Business Forum of Serbia and Ukraine in Belgrade.
The agreements on cooperation were also signed between the Regional Chamber of Commerce Pančevo and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Šumska region, Regional Chamber of Commerce Leskovac and the Chamber of Commerce of the Rovenska region, and Regional Chamber of Commerce Požarevac and the Chamber of Commerce of the Čerkaska region.
Vesović said at the meeting of Business Forum Serbia-Ukraine that the Business Council should make the cooperation between the two countries easier and work on removal of obstacles in their operations.
He said that the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia strived to sign the agreement on free trade with Ukraine, and he added that the meeting of the mixed committee for negotiations on liberalization of trade should be held by the end of the year.
According to his words, the value of foreign-trade exchange between Serbia and Ukraine in the first six months of this year amounted to 213m USD, which is about 50% less than in the same period last year.
Ukrainian delegation comprises about 15 entrepreneurs interested in establishing cooperation with Serbian enterprises. The plenary meeting of Serbian-Ukrainian business forum and signing of the agreement on cooperation were followed by the meetings of entrepreneurs.
