Mol opens first depot for fuel stock in Sremski Karlovci

The Hungarian oil company Mol has opened a depot in Sremski Karlovci where it will store and process fuel stock, without, as they announced, having a negative impact on the environment.

– The Mol depot in Sremski Karlovci is the biggest investment of this company in Serbia in the 15 years it has been operating in the country. This investment is another confirmation that Serbia and Hungary are strategic partners. Hungarian investments in Serbia exceed sums of half a billion euros – Hungarian Ambassador in Serbia, Attila Pinter, said and emphasized that they wanted to strengthen and expand the economic and the political cooperation with Serbia even further.

Serbian Energy Minister Aleksandar Antic said that the opening of the Mol depot was important, not just for the company, but also for the entire oil business and the energy system of Serbia.

– In terms of energy, this investment has a great impact on the overall energy security and provides us with the possibility of having several supply sources. To us, this terminal is especially important, as it strengthens the market in Serbia, which we support as a government and a society – Antic said.

The director of Mol Serbia, Ante Aralica, said that the Sremski Karlovci facility featured the most modern system of additive injection, built in a way that protects the environment.

– The terminal is equipped with a biological device for the treatment of waste waters and an oil separator, and the reservoirs feature cooling systems and the necessary floating roofs so as to reduce the evaporation. The transport will be carried out by road and river, and we also hope that rail transport will be established in the future – Aralica said.
