- "Web Fest 2009", the first regional Internet festival dedicated to selection of the best web site or web project, as well as to promotion and improvement of use of global electronic network on the territory of the region, will be open between October 1st and November 26th. In addition to contests, "Web Fest 2009" will also include workshops for expanding knowledge about the web as a media, as well as about the business market that can contribute not only to survival at the time of the crisis, but also to development - it is stated in the announcement by "Agena" and "Huge media", the organizers of the Festival.

Applications and votes can be submitted to web address http://www.wfest.org/, and the awards ceremony will be held on November 26th in Belgrade.

"The basic principle is simple. Everyone can apply for participation in the web site contest for free. All the interested only need to visit www.wfest.org, type the address of the web site they want to nominate, and select one of the categories to which the desired web page belongs. The contest is divided into two parts - expert jury voting and audience voting - and all applicants automatically participate in both", it is explained in the announcement.

Expert jury comprises professionals from the world of web design and business, and they will evaluate suggested web sites according to precisely defined criteria. The audience will vote for their favorites, and the web site or project with the largest number of votes will be the winner.

Applications can be submitted prior to the end of October, and then the voting will start. The workshops, which will include training, discussions and exchange of experiences, will be held during the Festival.

Ceremonious opening of "Web fest 2009" was marked by last night's cocktail party in "Colonial Sun". All the guests were addressed by Srđan Erceg, PR of the Festival, and Željko Ožegović, a member of the City Council of the Assembly of Belgrade, who said that such festivals were of exceptional importance for development of Internet community in Serbia, and he pointed out that the City fully supported that manifestation. The hosts were Marija Kilibarda and Miloš Đuričić.

"Web Fest" had its premiere in 2007. It achieved great success and was supported by web community and famous people, organizations, associations, businessmen and representatives of government and local administrations. Over 1,300 web sites took part in the contest. Final gala night was held in Yugoslav Drama Theater (JDP) in Belgrade, in the presence of large number of famous people, including Gordan Kičić, Mirjana Karanović, Ognjen Koroman, Olivera Kovačević, Gorčin Stojanović, Kristina Kovač, Zoran Alimpić, Anđelija Vujović, Marija Kilibarda, Dr. Feelgood and many others.

The manifestation was also backed by bands "Negativ" and "Intruder", and mini concert was given by Slađana Milošević.

This year, just like the last year, the media support to "Web Fest" is provided by business-investment portal "eKapija".
