Amendments to Law on VAT envisage tax exemptions for construction of highways

Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said today that the draft amendments to the Law on VAT envisaged VAT exemptions for highways, the construction of which is defined as a public interest under a special law.

At the National Assembly of Serbia, Mali said that the proposed amendments reduced the amount based on which foreign travelers may exercise the right of VAT recovery, halving it from EUR 100 to RSD 6,000.

As he said, there are also certain changes which pertain to harmonization with EU regulations – the specification of the manner of the taxation of vouchers and the rules pertaining to the services of consuming food and drinks on boats, trains and aircraft, as well as other amendments pertaining to specifying certain provisions, the practical implementation of which has led to confusion.
