The foundation stone was laid by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and the director of Jugoimport SDPR, Jugoslav Petkovic. The state will invest a total of EUR 45 million, as said on the website of the Presidency of Serbia.
Vucic announced that EUR 20 million would be invested in the construction part and another EUR 25 million in machines for mechanical processing of combat vehicles Lazar and Milos. As he said, the first 80 workers will be employed at the factory by May, and then a total of 300 people within two years, which is very important for the citizens of Kursumlija, Blace and the neighboring places.
– That also means more money for the municipality, which it can use to solve the issue of local infrastructure – Vucic emphasized and added that the entire economy would benefit from this.
The factory will be built in three phases. The first one will be completed by the end of 2020, and the entire factory should be completed by 2022. Components for armored vehicles will be produced at the facility in Pljakovo.
The plan is for the factory for mechanical processing of metal to open by May 2020 with 80 employees, whereas the number of workers will grow to 300 within two years.
– This is an important day for Kursumlija, as there have been no substantial investments for over 30 years – said the president of the municipality, Radoljub Vidic.
