Prunes in high demand - "Poljootkup" to export about 600 tons in 2009
Company "Poljootkup" from Bresnica near Čačak will export about 600 tons of prunes to Germany, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia, which is nearly 90% of total production.
About 30 tons of prunes without stones, which is the only type of prunes that is in demand in foreign markets, are delivered to regular buyers in Germany and Slovenia every month.
The company purchases major quantity of plums that are suitable for drying in the vicinity of Čačak, Topola, Bač and Kuršumlija, and the main sorts of plums that are turned into prunes are Stanley and Čačak's native, which are in high demand in western Europe.
