Serbian "Meter & Control" - first-ranked bidder on tender for sale of smart electric meters to "Electric Power Company of Montenegro"

- The consortium comprising Serbian manufacturer "Meter & Control", which operates within "Rudnap group", Swiss company "Landis Gyr" and Slovenian "Iskraemeko", is the first-ranked bidder on the tender announced by the Electric Power Company of Montenegro for purchase of smart electric meters and the system of smart measuring and management - "Rudnap group" announced.

Tender was announced in September 2009, and it attracted eight companies. The value of the announced tender is 1,500,000 EUR for 4,500 electric meters, one third of which should be provided by each member of the consortium.

In order to achieve that, "Meter & Control" had to develop new smart electric meters, as well as smart measuring and management system, which meets the highest European standards and includes the world's up-to-date communication protocols. Thanks to that, "Meter & Control" made its electric meters and the system compatible with the electric meters and systems of other manufacturers and became equal to the world's leading companies in the smart electric meters market.

Tender in Montenegro was announced in accordance with European standards, and the tender announced by one of the largest electric power companies in Europe - the Electric Power Company of France (EDF), served as the model.

The advantage of such tenders lies in the fact that they can provide compatible electric meters from minimum three different manufacturers in order to make their consequent maintenance and possible replacement easier. In that way, giving of the monopoly position to one supplier is avoided, as well as the problem of incompatibility of systems and electric meters of different manufacturers. That has been an obstacle to massive installation of the smart measuring and management systems in European countries for a long time, but since the standards are now finally defined, the electric power companies all around the world are getting ready for massive replacement existing electric meters with smart meters.
