The tracks then diverge and the first one connects to the ski route Pajino Preslo – Masinac and further to the 4b track, whereas the second one ends slightly above the starting point of the Karaman Greben six-seat ski-lift, Infokop reports.
At the moment, the ground is being cleared from trees and if the weather conditions are favorable, the two new ski tracks will open in the upcoming season 2019/2020.
According to the rules, the establishment of new ski routes on Kopaonik requires approvals by the Institute for Protection of Nature, the state forestry inspector and the Kopaonik National Park, whereas the Ski Resorts of Serbia need to compensate tenfold for the average wood mass. In addition to meeting all the regulations, the PE Ski Resorts of Serbia, in agreement with the Kopaonik National Park, decided to forest the area as a compensation measure aiming to preserve the ecosystem of Kopaonik. In the next five years, 23 hectares will be forested.
This year alone, in the first phase of this program, 6,000 fir and spruce saplings on 3 ha of the area around the Gobelja River and the Bar River.
