Fastest Internet in Serbia - company SBB put DOCSIS 3.0 platform in operation

Company SBB has put DOCSIS 3.0 platform in operation, which enables access to Internet at the download speed of 30 and 60 Mbps and the upload speed of up to 2 Mbps.

That is currently the fastest Internet link in Serbia, and it nearly four times faster than the strongest ADSL package. Application of DOCSIS 3.0 technology makes it possible for users to browse the Internet at the speed that has, so far, been reserved exclusively for large companies that use optical cables.

By increasing the speed of postpaid packages to 4, 8, 12 and 16 Mbps without the change in price, SBB brought its basic offer significantly closer to the level that is common in the developed countries of the world. According to the statistics, the average speed at which the users throughout the world have been accessing the Internet during the last three months of year 2008 amounted to 1.5 Mbps. For example, the USA ranked 17th at that time with the speed of 3.9 Mbps.

The download speed of 30 and 60 Mbps allows exchange of music and video contents, watchin high-resolution videos and playing online computer games at much higher speed than before. Having in mind that, according to the research conducted by company "Cisco", prior to year 2013, 90% of all Internet contents will be video contents, these speeds can be sees as the true need, as well as an important progress of Serbia when it comes to technology.
