The regulation which pertains to companies will apply from this month, whereas the fixed fee for households using solid fuels for heating will apply from January 1, 2020, Novosti writes. All the other citizens will pay a fixed fee of 100 dinars a month in 2020, instead of paying a fee per square meter of flat area.
– Three categories of activities have been defined, with large, medium and small negative environmental impact. The first category consists of mining companies, companies which produce food and companies which produce wood or textile. The medium category consists of livestock farming companies and companies which process fruit and vegetables. The third category consists of retailers and wholesalers.
Those categories are further divided into large, medium, small and micro companies.
The fee is paid only if the company emits harmful matters, whereas non-polluting companies don't have to pay the fee.
– The new regulation means that expenditures for the environment go up from 0.8% to 1% of the GDP, which is the EU average – the Ministry of Environmental Protection says.
