The laying down of 403 km of pipes for the gas pipeline in Serbia has been completed, Antic told Tanjug and added that the measuring stations and the large compressor station in the Zabar area, which should make the gas pipeline fully functional, remained to be done.
Antic expects the compressor station near Zabar to be completed in the second half of the year.
He explained that, upon the commissioning of the compressor station in Bulgaria and said station in Serbia, there would be enough pressure for the gas to flow to Hungary and farther to Central European gas storage facilities.
– As planned, last year we completed the laying down of pipes from the border with Bulgaria to the border with Hungary. The first activities started in late April 2019 and 403 km of pipes had been laid down by December – he said.
– Serbia is ready. Due to the delays in Bulgaria, they are expected to complete the works in mid-2020. The first quantities of gas from Bulgaria to Serbia are then expected to start in the second half of 2020, that is, from October, when the next gas season starts.
He adds that Hungary will get that has slightly later, once the compressor stations are built in its territory.
The minister points out that the year 2020 will be a year of large investments in the energy and mining sector and that he expects a strong investment policy of EPS, which is continuing the initiated projects.
