"Wind Jet" flies from Niš to Bologna - first Italian "low cost" air transportation company to start flying from Niš on December 25th
Italian "low cost" company "Wind Jet" is going to introduce regular Niš-Bologna flights on December 25th. The contract on cooperation was signed yesterday (November 24, 2009) between the Mayor of Niš, Miloš Simonović, and the Sales Manager in "Wind Jet", Massimo Polimeni, who announced that one flight per week would be enough during the winter, while one additional flight would be introduced over the summer months.
- According to the annual contract that we signed, the Italian company will be flying from Niš every Friday during the winter, and every Monday and Friday during the summer. This is the first cooperation with a low-cost company and it represents a new experience for the city, Airport "Konstantin Veliki" and the Tourist Organization of Niš - said Simonović.
The airplanes flying from Niš will be landing at Airport Forli near Bologna, one of the three airports used by the Italian company. Polimeni said that he expected to receive the official license from Serbian aviation authorities within the next few days and that he would strive to provide as many flights to other destinations from Forli as possible. Polimeni, however, was unable to specify the price of the tickets for that flight, but he pointed out that it would certainly be "the lowest possible".
- "Wind Jet" was founded in 2003 and today we have 13 airplanes. We will be using airplanes "Airbus 319" with 144 seats for Niš-Bologna flights. There is a direct connection between Forli and our airport in Catania, and soon with Palermo, and we hope that we will be able to connect with Rome as well. We are currently negotiating with the city on the price of the ticket, but it will also depend on the interest expressed by passengers and travel agencies. Sometimes the bottom limit is 20 EUR and more, but we will definitely know the price next week - said Polimeni. The CEO of the Airport, Dragan Bugarinović, said that the arrival of low-cost airliners would make other air transportation companies lower their prices.
