This is shown by our list of investments in the field of ECOLOGY which eKapija's readers found the most interesting.

The first spot belongs to eKapija's reporting on the topic of the waste incinerator in Vinca. The project of the construction of the municipal waste treatment plant was initiated two years ago with the signing of a public-private partnership between the City of Belgrade and the Beo Cista Energija consortium, but the European Investment Bank withdrew from financing the project, because, as the EU Delegation to Serbia emphasized for our portal, the incineration of waste is only allowed in extraordinary cases, when there is no other solution.
The second spot belongs to the Draft Agreement on the Construction of the Waste Water Treatment Facility in Belgrade. At the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese company CMEC, the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlovic, pointed out that Belgrade was the only city in Europe without a water filtering facility and that its construction would solve a decades-long problem.
In the third place on our list is eKapija's comprehensive look into how to improve the waste management system. Filip Abramovic, the assistant minister from the Sector for Waste Management and Waste Waters, announced a network of 27 regional centers for waste management. A new waste management strategy with a national waste management plan is being prepared, as is the new decree on the plan for reducing packaging waste, and there are also efforts to improve the sustainable system of financing in the waste management sector and to develop a “green economy” strategy.
The fourth spot belongs to the article about the necessity of a new waste water collector at RTB Bor. More precisely, the repair of the collector at this mining complex, whose breaking would lead to a major environmental disaster, has been postponed since 2017. The state budget for 2019 featured RSD 1.1 billion for the construction of a new collector. The construction was announced again at the end of the year, but hasn't started yet.

In the fifth spot is the waste water treatment facility in Krusevac, which, as announced in October, should start operating in March 2020. Parallel with the raising of this plant, the third phase of the collector and sewer system is being carried out, and the total value of the investment is EUR 24 million.
The sixth spot belongs to our article about a technological innovation in ecology – a composite biocatalyst which filters dyes and toxins out of water, invented by a team of scientists led by professor Zoran Vujcic from the Faculty of Chemistry in Belgrade, IHTM Chemistry Center and the Research and Development Center of Krusik Valjevo.
This innovation won the gold medal at the 35th International Exhibit of Inventions, New Technologies and Industrial Design Pronalazastvo-Beograd 2018.
The seventh and the eighth spot belong to another two planned waste water treatment facilities, those in Pirot and Blace. The construction of a waste water treatment facility worth around EUR 10 million is planned in Pirot, whereas the works on the facility in Blace should start in early 2020, according to the announcements.

The final, ninth spot belongs to a realized project – the Grocka Heating Plant is the first in Serbia to install a system for the filtering of smoke gases and the saving of energy. This Italian system reduces the emission of carbon-monoxide by up to 50%, while also lowering the amounts of sulfur oxides, nitrogen and nitrogen oxides to acceptable levels.
