The aircraft traveled nearly seven kilometers in 12 minutes, from the Port of Gazenica in Zadar to Preko on the island of Ugljan, Jutarnji List reports.
The founders of the startup, Milan Domazet, Ivan Vidakovic and Davor Sladovic programmed the drone to fly unassisted, without human intervention, and the video of the mail delivery attracted a lot of attention on social networks.
The director, Milan Domazet, said that he and his associates had tested the device ten times as part of the pilot project of delivering mail for the Post of Croatia.
– There's always a possibility of something unplanned happening. For example, when delivering mail from Zadar to Ugljan, we had to take into consideration the possibility of a strong wind and calculate the optimal speed of the aircraft so that the batteries would not be drained mid-flight – he said.
Domazet added that the idea was to use drones to cover the otherwise inaccessible and impractical routes.
