In the location in Donje Medjurovo near Nis next to the Yura factory, where Dytech started, and then stopped, its investment several years ago, the Austrian-owned Serbian company Qualis Electronics wants to build a factory and employ 210 workers. The Office for Local Economic Development and Projects (KLERP) says that they will prepare a study in the upcoming period which will show whether a factory can be built there, considering the ongoing court dispute.

Italy's Dytech started the project of opening a factory in Nis back in 2010, and it was even announced that the facility for the production of oils and lubricants will be completed in March 2011.

The plan was not realized, however, and all that remains is the basic structure on a plot of land, which, according to the Land Registry, currently belongs to the City of Nis.

Dragan Milovanovic of KLERP says that the plot of land does belong to the city, but that it is currently subject to a court dispute, as the Italian company has sued the city due to taking the building permit away from them. However, as Qualis Electronics is interested in that parcel, KLERP will start working on a study of the alienation of the land.

– The parcel is essentially free. No one is registered there and that's why KLERP should prepare a study which will show whether the land can be alienated without a compensation or not – Milovanovic says.

The City Council has already issued an order for the study to be prepared, and Qualis listed its plans and wishes in its letter of intent.

– Qualis Electronics is registered in Nis. This Austrian investor intends to carry out a greenfield investment in Donje Medjurovo, invest EUR 8.5 million over five years and employ 210 workers with the possibility of increasing the number – Milovanovic said at a session of the City Council.

The company was registered in Nis in November 2019 and is 100% owned by the Austrian company System Industrie Electronic, which manages companies which provide electronic solutions and produce and service components for medical, security and industrial equipment.

The construction of the factory can only begin once the study is prepared and the court dispute is over. Milovanovic says that the dispute should end soon.
