The Government of Serbia had specified the areas with limited access to Serbia, so the ban no longer pertains to the entirety of Switzerland, but only to the Canton of Ticino, which borders Italy, which has been majorly affected by coronavirus.
Air Serbia's aircraft took off for Zurich slightly before 7 am, and today's second flight to Zurich is planned for 6 pm.
The Zurich service of Air Serbia and other airlines operating the Switzerland-Serbia route, was canceled after a previous decision of the Government of Serbia to ban or limit entrance of foreign citizens from Italy, China, South Korea, Switzerland and Iran due to coronavirus.
On March 11, the government amended this decision, defining that the temporary ban no longer pertains to the entirety of the five countries, but only to Italy, Iran and certain regions in the other three countries – Canton of Ticino in southern Switzerland, on the border with Lombardy, Italy, as well as Hubei, China, and the city of Daegu and the north of the Gyeongsang province in South Korea.
People who visited the Schengen zone countries in the past 14 days may not board planes flying to the U.S.A, whereas Air Serbia's New York service remains unchanged.
