Unique registry of tax payers introduced
The Tax Administration of Serbia presented the Unique registry of tax payers today (December 24, 2009), which will enable storing of the information on all tax debts of 4.5m tax payers at one place.
- That registry will be of great use not only to the Tax Administration and tax payers, but also to all government agencies - the CEO of the Tax Administration, Dragutin Radosavljević, pointed out.
He said that, during 2010, the tax payers would be enabled to register tax, see the balance on their tax accounts and receive the tax payment certificates online.
The Unique registry of tax payers should be connected with the registries of the Police, the Republic Geodesic Institute and local self-governments next year, which will ensure prevention of tax evasion.
The citizens who are tax payers - about 3.5m of them, will have to receive the e-payment certificate, which is now issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia and the Postal Company of Serbia.
According to Radosavljević, the expectations are that the application of the central registry of the government administration will start in 2011, which will simplify and accelerate administrative procedures and make them cheaper.
Introduction of such registry is one of the conditions for Serbia's admission to European Union.
