Visa has announced that it is increasing the limit for contactless transactions which don't require PIN checks to RSD 5,000 in Serbia.

The limit is thereby increased by 25% compared to the previous one of RSD 4,000, which makes it easier for consumers in Serbia to carry out everyday transactions, the company says in a press release.

Contactless technology is the fastest and the safest way of making payments for consumers and traders and involves simply applying the card. More than 69% transactions in Serbia are already contactless, so this increase will additionally improve and accelerate the purchase.

The company points out that Visa appreciates the support of state institutions and the payment industry regarding the increase of the limit and says that they will continue cooperating closely with traders and partners from the financial sector in order to carry out the necessary technical changes at points of sale.
