At the initiative of the members of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS), companies gathered within the Association for Textile, Clothes, Leather and Footwear Industry, the Government of Serbia has amended the Decision on Temporary Ban on Export of Basic Vital Products, thereby enabling the export of multi-use protective masks made of woven textile, not combined with other materials.

– As the needs of the domestic market are met and as stable supply of textile facemasks has been established, local textile companies addressed the CCIS with the initiative of allowing the export of cotton masks, which are highly demanded abroad. The initiative of the CCIS has been accepted and the export of sewn multi-use masks, made entirely out of pure woven textile, has been allowed. The ban on the export of masks registered as medical devices, as well as protective masks made of combined materials, remains – the CCIS said.

When the COVID-19 epidemic broke out, a large number of Serbian textile companies reoriented to producing protective masks in order to meet the increased demand for this scarce product and contribute to the stabilization of the market.
