Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic has visited the works on the modernization and expansion of the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport and emphasized that projects worth EUR 60 million are being realized at the moment, including the new flight control tower of the Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services (SMATSA).

– The concessionaire is realizing an investment plan, and the value of the works at this construction site and the value of the new tower being built for the SMATSA is EUR 60 million – Mihajlovic said.

Together with representatives of the airport, she visited the works on the extension of Hall C and the construction of Platform E, whose value is around RSD 5 billion.

– Over the next 20 years, the concessionaire will put more than EUR 700 million in the investments in the Nikola Tesla Airport alone. That is important for our air traffic and our country, as it means that our airport will develop – Mihajlovic emphasized.

She said that the capacity of the airport regarding the number of gates and the handling of aircraft would increase by around 50% with the completion of the new terminal building.

The CEO of the Nikola Tesla Airport, Francois Berisot, said that the concessionaire, Vinci, was very proud of the long-term partnership with the state of Serbia and that their goal was to modernize the airport and upgrade its services in all segments.

Berisot emphasizes that the airport's capacities will increase, that the works will cover the terminal building, that is, the expansion of the existing one, that the aircraft parking area will increase and that runways will be built.

– We expect the major works to be done within the next three years. Today, we have visited the construction site where the terminal building is being extended, which is a very important step toward the increasing of the capacities – Berisot said.

He said that, with the new building, there would be 11 gates more, nearly doubling the capacities.

– The area within the building will be wider, so the passengers' comfort will greatly increase – Berisot added.
