Ratel gave fixed telephony license to Telenor
The Administrative Board of the Republic Telecommunications Agency (Ratel) made the decision on January 22nd, 2010, to issue the second license for fixed telephony services in Serbia to Telenor, which offered to pay 1,050,000 EUR for it.
- According to the defined procedure, Telenor will obtain the license prior to mid-February - said Milan Janković, CEO of Ratel and the President of the Commission for realization of public auction procedure for second fixed telephony operator.
Telenor Serbia was the only bidder on the tender for the second fixed telephony license in Serbia, of which granting ends monopoly in that field. It is issued on the period of 10 years, with the possibility of extension of that period for another 10 years.
That company in Serbia has about 2.8m mobile telephony subscribers, and it is a part of Norwegian telecommunications group Telenor, which is present in 14 countries.
