During his working visit to Bulgaria, Vucic and Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov visited the construction site of the Balkan Stream.
– There will be two important projects for Serbia and Bulgaria. One is the Balkan Stream, and the other is the completion of the main road, that is, the highway between the Serbian border and Sofia. Once this is done, it will take three hours to get from Sofia to Belgrade – Vucic said.
Borisov said that the construction of the Europe Highway was important not just for the two states, but that it was also crucial for the transport of goods between Europe and Asia.
He pointed out that an important step forward had been made on the construction of the 17-km section between Dragoman and Slivnitsa, located between Sofia and the Serbian border, which should be completed by the end of the year.
As BTA reports, the construction of 30 to 48 kilometers of the road which connects the Kalotina border crossing with the main road and is a part of the pan-European Corridor X (Salzburg-Belgrade-Nis-Sofia-Plovdiv-Istanbul) is in progress.
Last May, Borisov symbolically opened the works on the first section of the Europe Highway, which will connect Sofia with the Kalotina border crossing and further with Nis and Belgrade.
