– Prahovo has been recognized as a location with remarkable geostrategic and logistics potential, especially when it comes to port and rail infrastructure, considering the direct access of the location to the international waterway on the Danube and the railway network of Serbia – it is said on the government's website.
The European Corridor IV, which goes through Bulgaria and Romania, is located nearby.
– Considering that there are no chemical parks in this part of Europe, investors from the European Union, as well as from China and India, are expected to be very interested in this. As eastern Serbia, where Prahovo is located, is not that well developed in terms of industry, this project is of great importance for the whole country – the government adds.
The first phase is expected to attract up to 30 foreign investors, which would directly employ, according to the current estimates, up to two thousand workers, and indirectly, another two to three thousand.
Most of the chemical components and raw materials would be produced in Serbia, and the chemical park would thereby contribute to the development of the chemical industry of Serbia as a whole.
The estimate is that the realization of this project would double the budget of the City of Negotin, whereas certainly the biggest benefit of the construction of the Chemical Park Prahovo would be the prevention of migration of people from this part of Serbia. The realization of the project of gasification of eastern Serbia, which is very important for this part of the country, and especially for the Chemical Park of Prahovo, as well as the rest of the industry of this part of Serbia, will be followed by the task force.
– All the investments to be realized are in line with the highest environmental standards and international conventions and will entail, among other things, the construction of a facility for the treatment of waste waters, the establishment of traffic routes in the location and the expansion of the capacities of the Port of Prahovo – the press release says.
The meeting was attended by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic.
