Zijin Planning to Triple Production of Copper in Bor and Increase Foundry Capacity

Serbian Mining and Energy Minister Aleksandar Antic has stated in Bor that all Zijin's plans are related to the construction of the new Foundry, primarily an increase of its capacity, which eKapija has already written about.

– This foundry has a capacity of 80,000 tons, and the Chinese partners are planning a capacity of 200,000-250,000 tons. It's not that the technology is obsolete, but that the capacities are insufficient – Antic told the press when asked about the foundry.

He added that the Chinese partners had in their development plans a vision of the development of Zijin Bor, but also a synergy with Rakita, and said that that was why one of their key plans was for the capacity of the foundry to increase.

Antic added that, in certain segments, perhaps, in some connections between the foundry and the sulfuric acid plant, there had been certain problems, which, as he says, the Chinese partners pointed out when they started managing the system. He added that they had started solving those problems.

– When it comes to changing the position of the central company and its moving out of Bor, there are absolutely no such plans. Zijin Bor, our joint company, was born in Bor and will remain there – Antic said.
