The CEO of Visa for Southeast Europe, Vladimir Djordjevic, says that the survey, carried out in the region over a month ago, has confirmed that consumers in Serbia are adopting innovative payment methods and that contactless payment is becoming a new standard.
– Time is precious to everyone, we've had to change our habits due to the presence of coronavirus, and traders are continuously looking for ways to upgrade the payment experience – Djordjevic points out.
As said, the regional survey has shown that over two thirds of the citizens are ready for contactless payment, and most point out that the main advantages of using contactless cards are the speed, the simplicity and the practicality.
Visa's survey has also shown that each fourth citizen in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro now regularly uses contactless cards, and that the leader in the region, when it comes to the use of contactless technology, is North Macedonia, where as many as 68% of those surveyed use this payment method.
On the other hand, Albania uses contactless payment the least – only one in ten consumers makes payments this way.
