Serbia and Romania adopted strategy for development of Banat

The Agreement on cooperation between Banat's three administrative areas from Serbia and two Romanian counties has been signed in Timisoara.

The Agreement was signed by the prefects of the North Banat region, Branislav Bajić, the Central Banat region, Tanja Dulović, and the South Banat region, Ivica Žarkov, on behalf of Serbian side, while the prefects of the Karasz Severin county, Oktavian Cunea, and the Timiš county, Mirčea Bakala, signed the contract on behalf of Romanian side. The ceremony was also the occasion for presentation of the Strategy for Economic Development of Banat 2010-2015, which is the result of the Regional Center for Sustainable Development of Banat project that has been implemented over the last two years by the chambers of commerce of the Timisz county and the Karasz Severin county, and the regional chambers of commerce Kikinda, Zrenjanin and Pančevo.

Expert teams of all border regional chambers of commerce, led by Menuco Jovesku and Horia Livia, worked on elaboration of that document. One of important items in the Strategy for Economic Development of Banat is opening of new road border corssings, primarily the one near Kikinda (Nakovo – Lunga). Romanian side also confirmed that by signing the open letter to the governments of Serbia and Romania in October 2008.

The Agreement was signed in the presence of the President of the Regional Council for Development of the Timisz county, Konstantin Ostafićuk, and the Consul General of Serbia in Timisoara, Dragomir Radenković, as well as the representatives of the chambers of commerce of Timisoara, Rešica, Pančevo, Zrenjanin and Kikinda.
