Russia Registers First Vaccine Against Covid-19

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that the first vaccine against coronavirus has been registered in Russia. The Ministry of Health of Russia has registered the world's first vaccine for prevention of new coronavirus infection (Covid-19), developed by the Gamalei Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology in cooperation with the Russian Direct Investment Fund.

Putin points out that he knows the vaccine is very efficient, that a stable immunity is formed and that it has gone through all the necessary tests. He adds that he expects the mass production of the Russian coronavirus vaccine to start as soon as possible.

– I hope that we will be able to launch a mass production as soon as possible and that's what's important – mass production. Everyone who wants to, of course, should do so exclusively on a voluntary basis, which I've talked about several times. Everyone who wants to can use the development and achievements of our experts, our scientists – Putin said.

Putin's daughter tests the vaccine

Putin also said that one of his daughters had taken the vaccine.

– One of my daughters has taken the vaccine. In that sense, she took part in the experiment. After she was first vaccinated, her temperature was 38, the next day it was slightly above 37 and that's it – Putin said at the government's session where it was announced that the vaccine had been registered.

– After she took the second vaccine, the temperature slightly rose again, then dropped. She's feeling fine – the president added.

He noted that many people had no outward effects at all, including the high temperature.

– It's as if they haven't taken anything – Putin said.
