The City of Novi Sad has adopted a new economy stimulus package for the rest of the year. The new aid package, for which EUR 1.1 million was set aside from the budget, covers 5,667 legal entities, that is, each fifth company in Novi Sad, said the mayor of Novi Sad, Milos Vucevic.

– This entails a 50% discount at the Property Directorate for those who rent office space in August and September, but that period will be extended until the end of the year for all measures. Once the new City Assembly is established, the acts making this possible will be adopted. The 50% discount is also meant for renters of space at SPENS and for office space, land for smaller pre-fabricated structures, all reservations, renting of booths and advance payments at the Wholesale Open Market at the PUE Trznica – Vucevic said.

He added that a 100% exemption for the rent of business space was planned for the Arena movie theater, and there should also be a full exemption from paying the fee for taking up public areas for summer and winter seating areas, newsstands and popcorn stands.

The fee for displaying business signs for movie theaters will not be collected either, and the same goes for hotels, accommodation facilities and travel agencies.

– This will reduce budget revenues, but in the long term, it's better for the city, because jobs will be kept and companies will be helped to survive. By the end of the year, the city will function normally, despite the serious challenges regarding JSP and SPENS – Vucevic said.

He also said that the employment trend in Novi Sad was good and that there had been a growth by 5,554 new employees in the past eleven months.

– Most of them are employed in the private sector, which shows how important the arrival of large companies has been. The average net salary in Novi Sad has grown by RSD 7,322 since June 2019 and is now RSD 65,887. We are getting closer to the average salary of EUR 600 – Vucevic said.
