The coronavirus epidemic has made people fear the unknown and doubt a better tomorrow and made it harder for them to make decisions on investments, consequently influencing the sale of new vehicles, as Dragan Tasic, the owner and general manager of Autokuca Tasic from Jagodina, says for eKapija.

Still, our interviewee believes that those who planned to buy a new vehicle before the crisis will certainly buy it at some point, when the conditions for it meet and when things settle down.

– What's noticeable in the past few years is that there are no purchases in the middle market – people are buying either expensive vehicles or cheap used ones. That is a very large gap in practical terms. It is not easy to talk about the car market and the purchasing power at the moment, considering the whole virus situation, which cancels out all the potential advantages – he adds.

Foreign experience kickstarts business in Serbia

Autokuca Tasic started operating in Jagodina on October 8, 2008. As Dragan Tasic says, what preceded all the business endeavors in Serbia, concerning the automotive industry, is his experience and education abroad and, above all, his great love of cars.

– In fact, my first job was at a bank, where I worked for three years. After that, I managed to realize my childhood dream and I started acquiring work experience at Pichler GFG AG, where I progressed from being an administrative worker, through the head of the service, sales adviser, to deputy manager, mostly working with Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Porsche, Bugatti, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini cars. As I was driven by homesickness, I came to the idea to use my knowledge and experience and start a business in Serbia – Tasic says.

He adds that he contacted Porsche SCG, presented his ideas and that the cooperation, to mutual satisfaction, started there.

– This mutually fair cooperation led, after six years, to an offer from Porsche for me to buy a facility in Subotica, which also had a license as an authorized VW dealer. Only a few years later, the same happened with the authorized dealer in Kragujevac and, in 2017, Autokuca Tasic became the owner of thee authorized VW facilities in Serbia of a total of 10 – eKapija's interviewee says.

Facility in Kragujevac built under latest Volkswagen standards

Autokuca Tasic has invested in a business facility in Kragujevac, a state-of-the-art facility built under the latest Volkswagen standards. It takes up 2,000 m2 and features a show room, a car repair service, a spare parts warehouse, a tire hotel, a car washing facility, a car body repair space and a painting space, using the latest technology. The location of the new facility is on the regional road, at the very entrance to the city – 500 meters from the Krst ringroad.

– We are always trying to keep up with the times, to follow the innovations, educate our staff, both in the country and abroad, in line with all the recommendations and standards of the factory – Tasic points out.

Increasing focus on electric cars with hybrid engines

He also reveals that, when it comes to the cars and the innovations offered by Volkswagen, the fact is that there's an increasing focus on electric cars with hybrid engines:

– What we expect in the near future is a face-lifting of Tiguan, the eighth-generation Golf and a fully electric ID3 vehicle.

When it comes to the plans, Tasic says that he's always making them, but that, at the moment, it's all very uncertain.

– Of course, we all want the coronavirus situation to pass as soon as possible and to continue living normally and constantly surprise our clients with new features and original ideas, in line with our slogan “Ready for the Best” – eKapija's interviewee concludes.
