The City Administration for Construction Land and Investment of Novi Sad has once more opened a public procurement procedure for the first development phase of the city core.

First phase includes the Theater Square, Uspenska Street and a part of the passage between the Serbian National Theater and Apolo Shopping Center. The development of this urban fragment entails landscaping, reconstruction of underground installations, installation of public and decorative lighting and street furniture.

The deadline for submitting public bids is October 12.

Let us remind, the City Administration for Construction Land and Investment has previously decided to cancel the public procurement for the first development phase of a section of the city core, namely the Theater Square whose development the City was supposed to subsidize through budget funds.

One offer was submitted beforehand to the previous tendering procedure. As per official explanation, the bid was deemed unacceptable because it lack several details - the price for freestanding benches, unsuitable bus stop, unclear specification on corten steel and other.

The estimated value of the procurement was a little over RSD 315 million.

Theater Square, as a ground floor area intended primarily for pedestrians, will be paved with granite tiles in three discreet tones. The green space will be significantly increased, with preserving old and forming new green areas. Out of area of 8,110 m2 planned for the first phase, the verdure covers 2,714 m2.

The plan also proposes an ambient unit towards Uspenska Street with shallow water mirror, a fountain, a sitting are and planters with ornamental shrubs.

The space between Serbian National Theater and Apolo Shopping Center will retain plane trees as a central element around which landscaping and installation of urban features is planned. The green belt around the cargo entrance to the theater will be increased and reshaped with planting greenery.

The first phase of the development of the city center includes the installation of contemporary city furniture such as continuous benches and benches with planters, garbage cans, bicycle racks, bollards and public taps. The benches partly flow into the green areas thus unifying the area in a single whole.
