Talks with Alstom About Belgrade Subway – Preparatory Works for Technical Solutions in Progress Parallel with Feasibility Study

Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic met today with the Senior Vice President of Alstom Group, Philippe Delleur, and the company's Business Development Director, Nicolas Andrieux, and talked to them about the construction of the Belgrade Subway system. The meeting was attended by French Ambassador to Serbia Jean-Louis Falconi.

On this occasion, Mihajlovic emphasized that the Belgrade Subway was one of the most important and demanding projects that Serbia was to realize, the ministry says on its website.

– We are glad that Alstom, as one of the best world companies, is interested in taking part in the construction of the Belgrade Subway system, that is, in the phase of the equipping of the system. I believe that you had a good meeting with the finance minister as well and that financial agreements are to be made soon, both for the construction works and for the works on the system – she said.

Mihajlovic reminded that the agreement on a donation of EUR 8.3 million had been signed between the governments of France and Serbia in May 2020 and that a procedure for the realization of a donation of EUR 0.4 million had been agreed. She added that the preparation of the feasibility study, on which a commercial contract was signed in July and which is to be prepared by Egis, was in progress.

Philippe Delleur said that, parallel with the feasibility study, preparatory works for technical solutions were ongoing and that Alstom would actively work in the next months so as not to lose time for project realization, being aware of the importance of this project for the Government of Serbia.
