The shipyard in Backi Monostor has had 169 new projects since 1978, and in the past five years, they’ve mostly been repairing ships. After several years, they are to produce new boats again and their contracted projects provide reason for optimism when it comes to this industry, on which other industries are dependent as well.

Ivan Pasic, a worker at the shipyard, points out that, given his decades of work experience, he is very happy to welcome the construction of the 170th vessel.

The company’s managers point out that the success is the result of constant work and new business endeavors.

– This year we have a lot of contracted projects and we plan to increase the number of employees. We cooperate well with entrepreneurs from Croatia, we are servicing several of their companies, as well as vessels from Hungary and Germany, but also other countries, in addition to our own – says Milan Vuckovic, the owner of the shipyard in Backi Monostor.

Around 60 employees currently work at the shipyard, which dates back to 1796 and is one of the oldest shipyards in this part of Europe.
