Serbian Defense Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic attended the opening of the 15th International Defense Exhibition & Conference “IDEX 2021” in Abu Dhabi this Sunday, February 21, at the invitation of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Defense Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the ruler of the Emirate of Dubai.

Before the official opening of the fair, Stefanovic informally met with the UAE Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Mohammed Ahmad Al Bowardi, as announced by the Ministry of Defense of Serbia.

On that occasion, he pointed out that this leading arms and military equipment show was a good opportunity for the Serbian defense industry to showcase what it had created in the preceding period and what it could produce.

Stefanovic said that, during the event, he would meet with the defense ministers of several countries of the world to discuss potential cooperation, “what can be done in the complex time of the pandemic in order to make our armed forces more efficient and to have more joint training events, whereby we would boost the multifunctional operability of our army”.

During the first day of the show, Stefanovic visited the stand of the PE Jugoimport-SDPR, where a part of the production program of the defense industry of Serbia was presented.

This international event is held every two years under the sponsorship of the President of the UAE and the Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

IDEX is the only fair in the Middle East and Northern Africa that presents the most modern technologies for all forms of armed forces.

The show attracts state and military representatives, that is, clients for arms and military equipment, which is a good opportunity for the world to see what Serbia can offer in the field of defense industry, the press release says.

Located in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, this year’s fair, even under the conditions of the coronavirus pandemic, has gathered over 900 exhibitors from 59 countries, with strict compliance with the proscribed health protection and epidemiology measures for the prevention of the spreading of COVID-19.
