The Golija mountain in increasingly interesting to tourists, which was especially apparent last year, Janko Grbic, the director of the Tourism Organization of Ivanjica, says for eKapija. He adds that there’s room for the construction of new accommodation capacities and that there’s an interest in it as well.

The project of developing Golija as a tourist destination was declared a project of strategic importance by the Government of Serbia.

– There’s private accommodation of apartment type on Golija and there’s an interest from tourists. There’s still snow on Golija and the ski school is working. There’s room for the construction of larger accommodation capacities and there’s an interest as well, although everything’s still at the level of negotiations – Grbic says.

He adds that the plan is for a gondola to be built in the upcoming period as well. Let us remind that this was also announced in mid-2020 by Prime Minister Ana Brnabic.

– At the moment, the PE Ski Resorts of Serbia is working on designing a ski track and a gondola – Brnabic said earlier.

The development of road infrastructure, especially the construction of the Golijska Reka-Preko Brdo-Odvracenica road, is certainly contributing to the development of tourism. According to our interviewee, another shorter section remains unfinished.

Development of natural lakes

In 2000, the government pronounced Golija a first-category nature park and it is only among the Serbian mountains with the highest concentration of forest areas. It is also considered an air spa, and the tourists also find the three natural lakes interesting.

Certainly the best known one is the Dajici Lake, but no less interesting or important are the Kosanin Lakes and the Nebeska Suza Lake at the Okruglica peak.

– The plan is to develop the areas around the lakes together with the management of the nature park and the company Srbijasume – Grbic says.
