Vucic Announces Construction of Highway to Montenegrin Border – “Berane and Andrijevica to be Connected with Belgrade”

With the completion of the highway section from Pozega to Boljare and the Montenegrin border, Berane and Andrijevica will be geographically connected with Belgrade, stated Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic while visiting the works on the construction of the Iverak-Lajkovac high-speed route.

Vucic announced that an agreement with China Shandong on the construction of the section from Pozega to the Montenegrin border, worth over EUR 1.5 billion, should be signed not long after.

– We should sign the agreement on the continuation of the construction of that highway through Arilje, Ivanjica, Duga Poljana and Boljare to the Montenegrin border with the Chinese company. This is a huge project, worth 1.5 to 1.6 billion euros. It will connect Novi Pazar and Sjenica. It will bring Berane and Andrijevica closer to Belgrade, geographically, of course. These are fantastic projects, very expensive, and no could dream that they were possible to carry out. However, it will be done – Vucic said.

Montenegro, however, has not yet finished the 40-km section from Smokovac to Matesevo, and the continuation of the works on the section from Matesevo to the Serbian border is under question.
