Construction of republic center for treatment of dangerous matters (chemical and medical waste) in Šabac, EU’s €14m worth of donation, €40m - credit
Every year new 460,000 tons of dangerous chemical and medical waste are accumulated in Serbia. The priority of the State is construction of National Center for Treatment of Chemical and Medical Waste. It will be built on the territory of Šabac, Miroslav Nikčević, director of Republic Administration for Environment Protection, announced.
Serbian center for treatment of dangerous waste will be built in phases. The first part of “ecological factory” will be processing only factory, chemical waste (bases, acids, cyanide chromates...). The construction will cost €14m and that money will be donated by European Union. The money for the second phase, which includes construction of units for processing of waste from hospitals and pharmaceutical industry (€40m), has not been provided yet, so that Serbia thinks about asking for a favorable credit.
