Another 7.7 km of the full-profile bypass route around Belgrade opened to traffic today, on the section from the bridge on the Sava near Ostruznica to the Orlovaca and Petlovo Brdo interchange.
The left lane of the highway, two tunnels and three bridges, as well as the Orlovaca interchange with access platforms and the Petlovo Brdo interchange, each with two separate lanes, including a bridge, were built on that section.
The construction of the second lane of the highway from Orlovaca to the Strazevica tunnel and both lanes of the highway from Strazevica to Bubanj Potok is in progress.
The entire section from the bridge on the Sava near Ostruznica to Bubanj Potok is 20.4 kilometers long, with access routes. The project is worth EUR 227 million, and the works are financed 85% from the Exim Bank of China and 15% from the Serbian budget.
The contractor is the Power Construction Corporation of China, and the subcontractors are the Azerbaijan AzVirt and domestic companies.
Previously, the bypass route from Batajnica to Dobanovci and Ostruznica was built, with a new bridge on the Sava, built next to the old Ostruznica bridge.
The plan is to build a continuation of the bypass route from Bubanj Potok to Pancevo, so that the entire bypass route would be around 69 kilometers long.
The opening of the section of the bypass route from the bridge on the Sava near Ostruznica to the Orlovaca and Petlovo Brdo interchange was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who said that the part of the bypass route to Bubanj Potok would be completed a year and three months later.
Ambassador of China to Serbia Chen Bo said that the bypass route around Belgrade was one of the most important infrastructure projects in Serbia involving Chinese companies.
She added that, under the conditions of the pandemic, it was not easy for construction companies to complete projects within the deadlines.
