Construction of Kalenic regional landfill worth 22 million euros - Contract on preparation of technical documentation signed with Spanish company Eptisa

The contract on preparation of technical documentation and feasibility study for Kalenic regional landfill with a recycling center, worth 200,000 euros, was signed yesterday (June 30, 2010) in the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning.
- The contract was signed by Bojan Djuric, the State Secretary at that ministry, Zoran Jakovljević, the Mayor of Valjevo, and Alvaro Dies Santaklara, the Director of the Regional Office for Southeast Europe of Spanish company Eptisa, which is selected to prepare the technical documentation and implement the project - it is stated on the website of the Valjevo municipality.
It is estimated that the construction of the regional landfill in Kalenic, which will be used by 11 cities and municipalities - Valjevo, Ub, Lajkovac, Ljig, Mionica, Osečina,
Vladimirci, Koceljeva, Barajevo, Lazarevac and Obrenovac, will cost about 20 million euros. The plan is that the landfill be built on a devastated land of strip mines Kolubara.
The landfill in Kalenic will be the ninth regional landfill in Serbia, while the Waste Management Strategy envisages construction of 24 such landfills on the territory of the republic within next ten years.
The contract was signed in the presence of Jorge Andreu Arasa, the Adviser in the Economy and Trade Department of the Embassy of Spain to Belgrade, and Nebojša Pokimica, the Assistant Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning of Serbia.
