The construction of the Biorefinery is one of the sustainable alternatives for the industrial location Sisak within the program INA R&M Novi smer 2023, the Croatian oil company announced, as reported by the SeeBiz portal.

The status of the strategic project estimated at EUR 300 million, which is being developed to the end of ensuring long-term sustainable operations of the company, has been presented recently to the management of INA.

INA is currently in the process of transformation of the primary-refinery section of its business and the extension of the existing value chain.

The operating director of Refinery and Marketing, Goran Plese, pointed out that INA was working on developing sustainable alternatives in the location in Sisak.

– This also entails the construction of the Biorefinery, which would produce second-generation biofuel. We are currently working on further development and opportunities for additional co-financing of this project, which is the key pre-condition for the making of the final investment decision – he said.

The Biorefinery project was recently announced by the Croatian minister of economy and sustainable development, Tomislav Coric, as part of the presentation of the National Plan of Recovery and Resilience.
