Colors have a considerable psychological impact on people, so it’s important to harmonize them with the functionality of the space. VELUX has launched a new collection of interior blinds for roof windows in 70 new colors, in line with the current and the upcoming trends. Pej Gruppen, the leading Scandinavian institute for colors and trends, has developed a palette of colors in line with the trends in the next few years. The new palette is inspired by Scandinavian simplicity and involves simple, modern, trendy colors, which will fit into modern and traditional interiors.
How to harmonize the color and the model of the blinds with what the room needs? We took a loft as an example, where, for seven spatial units, we combined the design and the functionality, chose the right color and model for each space, taking into consideration how they influence the productivity, comfort and even sleep…
Let’s start with the children’s room.
The greatest adventures begin with a good sleep, which children know the best. VELUX has created a special Kids collection of Siesta and Duo blinds, featuring inspirational, bright design, for children’s rooms only. Sunny or starry skies, cars, dragons, pink or green hues – it’s up to you!
For a living room, which will feature plenty of details, we recommend neutral tones, which will fit easily into various interior design styles. We picked beige blinds which match the dominant colors of large pieces of furniture, such as sofas, armchairs or carpets. Also, for rooms in which you read, watch TV and hang out, it’s good to predict all the scenarios of space usage and pick the model of interior blinds which enables various possibilities of controlling the light. That is why we used Duo blinds for either a full darkening or a mere dimming of the light. This model features two types of blinds within a single solution. The white pleated blinds provide a basic control of light and privacy, and Siesta can block all light whether it’s daytime or nighttime. Also, these and other blinds can be combined with VELUX mosquito nets.
In spaces where you mostly spend time reading or where you want to relax and have a moment for yourself, you need flexible light control. Available as transparent or dimming blinds, VELUX plated blinds have the advantage of flexible control, because they can be controlled from the upper and lower side and set up anywhere inside the window. The perfect solution for this room was the sand-colored pleated blind, which allows for a gentle darkening of the space.
For working spaces, it’s always good to pick colder colors, which stimulate work and concentration. If your work desk stands next to a window, it’s good to have blinds which provide good protection from light and prevent reflection on the laptop or the desktop computer. For this room, we used the version of the thermal plated blind for the total darkening, in a petrol tone. This solution also provides additional insulation of the space.
VELUX INTEGRA® roof windows, controlled electronically, installed outside our reach, VELUX ACTIVE with NETATMO is the best option. The windows and the blinds can be controlled simply by pressing a switch or through the VELUX App Control on the smart phone.
VELUX ACTIVE sensors continuously measure the temperature of the room, the amount of humidity and CO2 and open windows, interior and exterior blinds. In addition to manual remote control there’s a fully automated option, which takes care of your interior climate. Based on the weather forecast, VELUX ACTIVE lowers the blinds or the exterior net before the room gets overheated.
And now something very important – the kitchen! Since it is frequently an open space, where parts of the living room, the kitchen, the dining room or the working room are connected, the colors and the tones of the blinds should be harmonized. It is very important to harmonize the colors, but that, of course, does not mean that they all have to be the same. Play with different textures, shades, hues… Transparent blinds for slight dimming are a suitable choice, because natural and light tones provide more natural light and shade, which gives the food a more a natural look.
In bedrooms and others rooms for resting, it is important to have the dimming option. For the bedroom in this loft, we picked an orange dimming blind, which will enable quality sleep day or night. The orange color gives the space a light appearance and has a good psychological effect when waking up in the morning.
The bathroom is your zone of intimacy and it is important to choose protection which provides full control of light and privacy. VELUX Venetian blinds are a perfect solution resistant to humidity. An important advantage is the possibility of setting up the quantity of the incoming light, depending on the time of the day.
What makes the new VELUX collection even more special are the various levels of transparency of the materials and the possibility of dimming – from mild to full. All the blinds have the OEKO-TEX® certificate (Standard 100 1076-184 DTI) and a guarantee of not containing harmful matters.
VELUX celebrated its 80th anniversary this year. Their wide range of products can be seen at the official website. If, along with the blinds, you opt for roof windows, know that their purchase gives you a 10-year guarantee, whereas the guarantee for the blinds is three years. Also, VELUX cooperates with recommended craftsmen, who are always available for free advice or servicing, which is recommended every two years.
Those who can’t find the desired color in the standard collection are free to contact the VELUX office at +381 11 2057 500, and we will try to find the best solution for you.
