The Executive Vice President and Head of Strategy and Independent Publishing for Take-Two, the company which has acquired Nordeus for EUR 378 million, Michael Worosz, says that, with the Serbian Nordeus, they will further strengthen the company’s position in the global market in the segment of mobile video games.

– Top Eleven has attracted a large global audience, with especially active players throughout Europe, Southeast Asia and Latin America. Our goal is to further expand the audience in these markets, which bring together passionate fans of soccer, but, as your question suggests, we also want to make Top Eleven more present in the USA and China – Worosz said for Blic Biznis.

He says that there’s a growing enthusiasm for soccer in the USA and that Take-Two can help Nordeus with the marketing toward American players.

As for China, where soccer is already very popular, we have close partnerships established there in the field of publishing, which can help us bring Top Eleven to that market, Worosz added.

– For years now, we’ve known about Nordeus and their most popular game – Top Eleven, and we started considering investing in the company several months ago, in direct talks with the CEO and co-founder of the company – Worosz said when asked how Nordeus had attracted the attention of one of the most creative and innovative companies in the entertainment industry, Take-Two Interactive.

He says that their investment in Nordeus fully complements the companies Social Point and Playdots, which are already part of their family, and that they are thereby expanding their portfolio of sports games, for the first time, with a soccer game.

– Nordeus will continue operating from Belgrade, the same way it’s done so far. We don’t plan to change that and we believe that it is important for each studio to have the freedom of independent functioning. Nordeus stands out for its game development and its work with the community. We want them to continue operating that way and we will support them in that, as is the case with Nordeus Foundation, which was recently officially presented – Worosz said.

He points out that the interactive entertainment industry is developing at an accelerated place in Serbia.

– We have talked a lot with the Nordeus team and we have also looked into the gaming community in Serbia and we are truly impressed. Last year, according to the SGA report, the Serbian gaming industry had an income of EUR 120 million and published 41 new games. This is a very exciting moment to become part of the gaming industry in Serbia and support its further development – Worosz emphasized.
