Contract signed for the reconstruction of the Subotica-Horgos railway - Deadline for completion 14 months

The contract for the reconstruction and modernization of the Subotica - Horgos (Hungarian border) railway was signed by the Serbian government.

According to the Serbian government website, after the completion of modernization and reconstruction, this line will be one of the most modern electrified European railway sections, on which trains will travel at speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour, with the most modern accompanying equipment, signal and security systems.

The contract envisions the reconstruction of a 26.63-kilometer-long railway to fit speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour and the reconstruction of station buildings at Palić, Bački Vinogradi and Horgoš stations, Javno Skladište and Hajdukovo stops, as well as the reconstruction of 13 level crossings and two underpasses.

The Russian company RZD International, which enters the business in a consortium with a domestic company Karin Komerc, was chosen through a public call for the selection of a strategic partner, announced in April. The value of their offer, which was also the only one at the public invitation, amounts to RSD 10,227,146,290.06 without VAT (around EUR 86.7m), the website states.

The deadline for the completion is 14 months from the introduction of the contractor to the job, Tanjug news agency writes.
