When asked by Demostat how far the negotiations have progressed, what the price is, whether the Commission for Protection of Competition is to improve the transaction and what the proceeds from the sale will be invested in, Posta only said: “We have no comment regarding your questions”. Telekom first promised that they would explain everything in detail, but no response has arrived in the two weeks since the mail was sent.
At the end of last year, Telekom held 39.9% of the market, according to the criterion of the number of users. Right next to it is SBB with 32.2%, followed by Supernova with 13.5% and Posta Net with 1.2%, whereas the remaining portion of the market belongs to smaller, mostly local networks. In the sector of cable content, until the end of last year, SBB was the dominant operator, with a 45.5% share, followed by Telekom with 29.2%, Supernova with 14.8% and Posta Net with 2.7%. However, in the meantime, Telekom acquired Supernova, which was officially merged within it on June 1, 2021, and if the acquisition of Posta Net succeeds, Telekom will have a 54.6% market share observed by the number of subscribers, and as for the cable content, it will exceed its main competitor, SBB, reaching 46.7%.
