Based on the decision made at the City Assembly session seven days ago, starting tomorrow all catering facilities can broadcast music in the gardens on weekdays only until 10 pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays until 11 pm, said the Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic, as Beoinfo reports.

He specified in his interview on TV Pink that restaurants can broadcast music inside the buildings, but it must be adjusted so that it cannot be heard in the gardens. That way, as he said, tens of thousands of people who are exposed to harassment by caterers will be protected.

- That decision is valid for the entire city, except for the three zones which include Skadarlija, Ada Ciganlija and the riverbank. The new noise law, which is in the process, will be applied to these zones, important for the city's tourism. The new law will give the City very broad powers, which means that each of our communal militiamen will have a noise meter with which he or she will determine the noise level on the spot and will be able to close the facility immediately, confiscate the noise emitters, and the penalties will be very rigorous - he said is Vesic.

He told all caterers to respect this decision and added that the penalties would be rigorous.

- The city stands firmly behind the caterers and I fought for them to be able to work, even at time when caterers have not worked anywhere else in Europe, however, no one has the right to harass citizens because they have the right to private life and their own peace. I will always be alongside the citizens - said Vesic.

He pointed out that the new decision on river rafts will define the obligation to pay for the occupied space.

- They are not paying anything now, and that will change, they will have to bid for places and pay their obligations to the City. Belgrade will, of course, provide those who operate legally with electricity, water and everything that is needed, and on the other hand, there will be an obligation for the owners to clean the areas around their rafts. If they fail to do so, they will pay a fine. We are bringing order to Belgrade, it is a policy whose goal is to show that Belgrade is a good place for all people to live - Vesic pointed out.
